Toupees/Wigs - Do we really need to explain this?
Topical Solutions - Rogaine (also sold as generic Minoxidil, is a topical treatment), is hand-applied directly to the scalp and is approved for men and women who have thinning hair. The latest version is a foam treatment. Minoxidil can cause scalp irritation and requires direct application to the skin/scalp. Such as with Propecia (an ingested drug), Rogaine must be used consistently or the positive effect starts to wear off.
Hair Transplants - Ouch. It doesn't matter what you call it, or how you fluff it up, it's surgery. Therefore, this solution requires recovery time and large financial commitment.
Medication – Chemical treatments like Propecia (a prescribed oral pill for men only, developed by Merck) and Rogaine (a topical application) are widely accepted, but only last when consistently used, and have some negative side effects, such as lowered libidos and only works in a small percentage of users. In fact, Rogaine advises that results don't tend to be apparent until the 4-month mark.
The Comb Over – Please tell us this is not really your solution???
Laser Therapy – Laser handhelds are the most advanced Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) Laser brush on the market today, used for natural hair stimulation and rejuvenation. Laser therapy reactivates hair growth by stimulating live, but weakened, follicles at the cellular level. It does not reactivate dead follicles. But, this could be effective for patients who want to improve weak or thinning hair. However, it does not work for areas of the scalp that are already bald.
Hairmax Lasercomb and Other Laser Devices – These consist of a hand-held low-level laser device that promotes hair growth. The device provides distributed laser light to the scalp while the comb teeth simultaneously part the user's hair to ensure the laser light reaches the user's scalp. This technique employs electro-stimulation which may interfere with the normal levels preset within the body.
